LOGBOOK SERVICING

The Automotive Workshop is fully certified to provide logbook services for all:

  • Petrol passenger vehicles

  • Diesel passenger vehicles

  • LPG passenger vehicles

  • Electric and hybrid passenger vehicles

BRAKES SERVICES

The brakes are the most important safety feature your vehicle has. Your brakes are purely preventative unlike other safety systems which merely reduce the severity of the accident. Well maintained brakes can be the difference between an accident and an emergency stop.

Your brakes suffer a surprising amount of wear. After all, every day they routinely bring tonnes of metal to a complete stop. For this reason we recommend you have your brakes checked at least once a year.

Here at The Automotive Workshop we can provide the following brake services:

  • Brake component replacement

  • Brake component machining

  • Brake line repairs and replacement

  • Handbrake repairs

  • General brake services

If you haven’t had your brakes checked in a while, then contact us today!

ROADWORTHY INSPECTION

When you’re planning to sell or otherwise transfer ownership of a vehicle, you are legally required by the government to obtain a roadworthy certificate. The roadworthy certificate ensures that the vehicle meets the minimum safety standards to be legally driven on Tasmanian roads and can only be issued by a licensed tester.

If you’re thinking about buying a second-hand vehicle we would recommend bringing it in to us for a pre-purchase inspection. The pre-purchase inspection is a thorough check of the entire vehicle, to make sure you know exactly what you’re buying. We’ll also give you an estimated cost of any repair work needed, so you can make an informed purchased decision.

If you need a roadworthy certificate or a pre-purchase inspection, talk to us today!

STEERING + SUSPENSION

Defects in your vehicle’s steering and suspension drastically affect the handling and ride comfort of your vehicle. Play in the steering wheel and body lean around corners may mean that your steering or suspension need servicing. Your suspension also helps your tyres to exert grip on the road. A well maintained suspension system is important for maintaining a shorter stopping distance.

The Automotive Workshop can provide the following steering & suspension repairs and services:

  • Shock absorbers, springs and struts

  • Bushing replacements

  • Power steering repairs

If you suspect that your steering or suspension may not be operating to its optimum, then get in touch with us today!

AIRCONDITIONING

In the Australian Summer driving without air conditioning can be virtually unbearable. Interestingly the air conditioning system can actually degrade more from disuse than from use. The numerous rubber tubings and seals which make up a large part of your AC will dry out and crack if not used, allowing the refrigerant gas to leak out and rob your aircon of its cooling power.

The Automotive Workshop can fully repair your air conditioning, repairing or replacing faulty condensers and compressors, swapping out cracked tubing and then deodorising and re-gassing your AC once we’re sure it’s airtight.

If your air conditioning isn’t working, contact us today!

CLUTCH & TRANSMISSION

As the system which transfers power from your engine to your wheels the drivetrain consists of some of the most intricate and precise pieces of machinery in your vehicle. Due to the complex nature of the drivetrain any minor flaws can quickly escalate into very costly repairs.

If you notice a clicking noise when at full turn or are having trouble changing gears or notice a grinding noise when you do or possibly a burning smell coming from under the bonnet when you’ve finished driving, you may have a problem with your vehicle’s drivetrain.

Here at the Automotive Workshop our skilled mechanics can provide the following drivetrain services:

  • Clutch repairs

  • Automatic and manual gearbox repairs and servicing

  • General transmission servicing

  • Differential repairs

If you’ve noticed any of the warning signs listed above, talk to us today!

TYRES & WHEELS

If your wheels are poorly aligned you will find yourself with decreased handling and uneven tyre wear. This is bad because tyre manufacturers design their tyres with built in redundancies to ensure their tyres provide satisfactory traction even as they wear down.

The Automotive Workshop can help you with:

  • Major tyre brands for all makes and models of car, truck and 4WD

  • Wheel alignments

If your tyres are looking a bit bald, get in touch today!

RADIATORS & COOLING SYSTEMS

If your cooling system is malfunctioning it will not only reduce your fuel efficiency but also your engines lifespan. Leaking coolant damages the head gasket and expansion caused by overheating warps the cylinders and pistons throwing them out of alignment. If left unchecked for long enough a faulty cooling system will destroy your engine and the cost of repairs will be comparable with buying a second-hand car.

The Automotive Workshop can help you with any issues in your cooling system, including:

  • Radiator/heater unit repairs and replacement

  • Head gasket replacement

  • Coolant flush and leak check

  • Thermostat check and replace

If your engine is overheating or leaking coolant, get in touch today!

DIAGNOSTICS & AUTO ELECTRICAL

With their growing complexity modern cars are coming equipped with more and more sophisticated on-board computers. This network of computers monitors and handles just about every aspect of driving from playing music and monitoring fuel consumption to braking transmission and even pre-emptively putting your vehicle into limp mode when a serious fault is detected to prevent any lasting damage.

Despite the increasingly elaborate nature of the electronics most cars still communicate these issues to the driver in the same manner: the Check Engine Light (CEL). If your CEL lights up you should bring your vehicle into us as soon as you can.

The Automotive Workshop is a diagnostic fault-finding specialist. If you bring your vehicle to us we will plug our cutting-edge diagnostic scan tools into your car’s central computer and generate and analyse a detailed report. Once we have this report, our accomplished auto electricians can perform:

  • Battery test and replacement

  • Alternator and starter motor replacement

  • Audio installations

  • Lighting upgrades

  • Accessory installation

  • Electronic tuning

If your CEL is looking up at you from the dash, contact us today!
